This just in: Pocket’s latest 4.1 update is now available for Android.

As we announced just a few days ago, Pocket 4.1 includes a host of new features, including Page Flipping, expanded video support, and new reading themes. (Kindle Fire users, our 4.1 is currently pending review in Amazon’s app store and will be available soon.)

Here’s what’s new:

Article View updates:

• Page Flipping mode: In addition to Pocket’s default scrolling option, you can now swipe left or right inside an article to enable Page Flipping and read one page at a time.
• Improved Dark theme and an all-new Sepia theme: We’ve made improvements to the Dark theme, and we’ve also added Sepia. With refined contrast and readability, these options make reading even more comfortable.
• Increased maximum font size: For those who prefer larger print, we’ve expanded Pocket’s font-size options so you can find the perfect fit for reading.

Plus:

• Dark theme now runs throughout the app: Use Pocket comfortably at night, whether you’re in the Article View or browsing through your saved content.
• Add URLs from your clipboard: We’re making it even easier to save something for later: Pocket now automatically detects URLs that are copied to the clipboard so they can be added directly to Pocket.
• Support for additional video sites: Pocket’s in-app video streaming now supports popular sites including TED, Devour and Khan Academy.

Note to HTC Flyer and Evo View users: We are aware of the issue with the blank Reader view, and we are still looking into it. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have it resolved soon.

It’s been an incredible few weeks for Pocket: Apple named us iPad App of the Week, we topped the charts as the No. 1 free news app across iOS, Android and Amazon, and Pocket has been downloaded more than 2 million times since its debut.

All of that has catapulted Pocket to a user base that’s now more than 5 million. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.

We’ve been working hard to continue improving the Pocket experience, and today we’re introducing Pocket 4.1, with new features that make the best reading and viewing experience even better.

Here’s what’s new in Pocket 4.1:

Article View updates:

Our last update to Android is just a few days old, but we’re working hard to keep improving Pocket. We’ve just pushed an update that allows Android users to install the Pocket app on external storage (e.g. SD cards).

The latest version (4.0.4) is available now on Google Play and is currently pending review on Amazon’s app store.

We’ve been hard at work since launching the new Pocket last week. If you haven’t noticed already, we’ve released 3 updates to the Android app over the past week. The latest version (4.0.3) hit Google Play last night and is currently pending review on Amazon’s app store.

Note to HTC Flyer and Evo View users: We are aware of the issue with the blank Reader and are looking into it, sorry for the trouble.

Here’s what we improved in each version:

4.0.3 (4/25/12)

• Instant Sync is now working again. However, please note that instant sync only works for one device per account. We will support multiple devices for a single account soon.
• Duplicate Items: When adding items using the Share Menu, duplicates will no longer appear. To remove any duplicates that were added before this fix, you can use Bulk Edit to remove them, or log-out and log back in to load a clean list.
• Sharing: Fixed issues when sharing to Evernote.
• Video: Improved video playback and functionality
• Several other bug and crash fixes.

Previous Updates:

4.0.2 (4/20/12)

• Fixed Select/Copy Text on 2.3 devices
• Fixed Video not pausing when leaving the Reader
• Added a Report Article option in the Share Menu. Use this to easily alert us about Article View’s that did not parse correctly.

The all-new Pocket is just one week old and we’ve been listening to all of your feedback. We’ve just released a series of updates that improve our bookmarklets, Chrome extension and our web app:

Improved Bookmarklet, now with Tagging

If you use the Pocket bookmarklet in your desktop or mobile browser, we’ve tweaked it to make saving even faster, and you can now add tags after you’ve saved something. (The update to your bookmarklet is automatic — no need to add or change anything in your browser.)

Updated Chrome Extension

Our new Chrome extension is here with an improved UX, performance enhancements and the ability to tag any item you save from the browser. We also add a new shortcut key (Mac: Cmd+Shift+P, Windows: Ctrl+Shift+P) for quick saving. You can download the Chrome extension here.

Support for IE9+

Our web app has also been updated and now works with Internet Explorer 9 and higher.
